The UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) provides guidance for employers offering work experience.

They are designed to encourage and support employers to prepare young people in education for the world of work. They provide information and advice, explain government policy, outline available financial support and list the organisations that can help.

New Anglia Careers Hub

New Anglia Careers Hub

The New Anglia Careers Hub brings together schools, colleges, employers and providers to drive forward a careers education that will support the ambitions of the business community in Norfolk and Suffolk and its young people.

The Hub also aims to develop networks and communication between schools, supporting the sharing of best practices and ideas to create solutions to maximise the impact of high-quality careers education.

Working Well Norfolk

Working Well Norfolk is an employment support project helping Norfolk residents with long-term health conditions or disabilities to move quickly into work and supporting them to stay in work.

The scheme provides employers with:

  • free support to recruit and retain staff
  • help to find people from a pool of talent
  • support with any current employees who might be struggling in their role due to their health condition or disability

Working Well Norfolk is funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The scheme is managed by Norfolk County Council and is delivered by Seetec Pluss and Standguide Ltd.

Training

Local Skills Improvement Plan

The function of the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) is to:

  • communicate the current skills landscape from an employer’s perspective, identifying gaps in skills and provision
  • proactively supporting collaboration between providers and employers to produce a robust plan for skills for the future.
  • provide a platform for task and finish groups
  • showcase “what works well” in the region
  • demonstrate tangible outcomes from employers discussions
  • articulate the above to Department for Education

Its current task is to take information from working groups (providers and employers), craft and develop potential solutions, and propose solutions to LSIP Board. LSIP Priorities have been identified and submitted. LSIP Full report submitted on 31 May 2023.
