Want to hold a Jubilee street party? Here’s what you need to know
Date published: 14th April 2022
On 6 February this year Her Majesty the Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms, and the Commonwealth.
The United Kingdom has a great tradition of communities coming together to celebrate national events. Thousands of people across the country took part in street parties for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and the Queens 90th Birthday in 2016.
Across Norfolk, there will be events and initiatives taking place throughout the year, with a four-day bank holiday weekend spanning Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June.
Many residents may want to throw their own street party to celebrate.
Our Licensing Team have prepared some helpful guidance for what to do if you want to put on your own Jubilee celebrations.
The toolkit dispels any myths about street parties and clearly outlines the facts
Tracy Howard, Public Protection & Commercial Manager said:
“As the first ever Platinum Jubilee, we expect many residents will want to put on their own functions with their neighbours and local friends.
Our toolkit makes it as simple as possible, with all the contacts, information, and legislations you’ll need to safely hold your own events.”
