NNDC pays over 75% of its council tax energy rebate customers

In response to the rising cost of energy bills, the Government announced a support package, which included a one-off payment of £150 for properties in Council Tax bands A to D.

North Norfolk District Council started making payments to customers who pay their Council Tax via direct debit from 6 May and have now paid out £4.6m to over 30,000 customers - over 75% of those eligible.

Customers will start to receive letters confirming that we have either paid them the £150 (as they are listed as paying their council tax by direct debit and have passed the validation checks) or letters to those non direct debit council taxpayers giving them details of how to claim the £150 payment.

Cllr Eric Seward, portfolio holder for Finance and Assets said:

“We’re pleased that North Norfolk residents will be receiving their rebate and have now paid out a significant amount of money, to the value of £4.6m.

When the rebate was announced, it involved significant system development for local authorities across the UK and we made sure that ours would be secure and accurately deliver these much needed funds to many struggling residents, who we thank for their patience.”

This rebate is not a council tax discount, and you should continue paying your most recent Council Tax bill.
