Coastwise (North Norfolk District Council) and Changing Coasts East Riding (East Riding of Yorkshire Council) are both part of the Environment Agency’s Coastal Transition Accelerator Programme and both Councils have jointly sponsored The Climate Creatives Challenge #4.

The Climate Creatives Challenge is an international design competition that supports new and innovative approaches for communicating the impacts of climate change and the benefits of mitigation, adaptation and resilience.

Challenge #4 has a coastal change theme, with aspects of coastal change including coastal erosion, coastal flooding, rising sea levels, coastal communities and coastal ecosystems. Previous challenge themes have included Adapting Historic Environments, Ecological Change and Flooding.

Entries should aim to answer the question of how can we communicate the impacts of climate change on coastal zones and the benefits of adaptation or resilience.

The Challenge is open to everyone and they accept a broad range of entry types including illustrations, photos, videos, audio, sculptures, poetry and prose. The challenge is free to enter and the competition is now open with a closing date of Saturday 13 January. The winner will then be announced on Thursday 1 February. There are a number of prizes including £1,000 for first place, £750 for second place, £500 for third place and £250 for the top 20 commendations.

Cllr Harry Blathwayt, portfolio holder for Coast said:

"I am hugely excited by the Climate Creatives Challenge. I have expectations that the brightest and the best creatives will also be excited by this challenge as the aims are so worthwhile, I cannot wait to see the entries."
