North Norfolk District Council joins UK:100

North Norfolk District Council is pleased to announce that it has successfully become a member of UK:100, a network of councils seeking to pool knowledge and resources in order to achieve net zero carbon emissions.

Work for the group includes the planning and implementation of projects that transition council emissions to clean energy in ambitious and cost-effective ways, then assessing how this can be broadened to include businesses and the public.

The Council has also pledged to the The Countryside Climate Network (CCN), a sub-group of the UK:100 which focuses predominantly on rural areas.

Cllr Tim Adams, Leader of North Norfolk District Council, commented: “North Norfolk District Council is pleased to sign the UK100’s Net Zero pledge and join likeminded Councils in the fight against climate change.

As an authority, we are addressing the climate emergency proactively, working with our community groups and residents to make sure we all work towards a better future together.”

Cllr Adam Varley, North Norfolk District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Climate Change and Net Zero, added: “This is a positive step for the Council in our efforts to achieve Net Zero.

Our climate change targets are ambitious but necessary, so I am excited to pool our knowledge and resources with other likeminded authorities to ensure they are met.”
