PositiviTea: Community wellbeing sessions to be hosted across the District
Drop-in sessions available during Mental Health Awareness Week
Date published: 10th May 2023
North Norfolk District Council is pleased to be hosting a series of drop-in sessions across the District, on behalf of the North Norfolk Health and Wellbeing Partnership, with the aim of fostering improved community wellbeing.
Named “PositiviTea,” the sessions will take place between the 15th-19th of May, in line with Mental Health Awareness Week, and will comprise of a mix voluntary groups, council support officers, charities and key organisations. These include community engagement charity CAN, domestic abuse refuge NIDAS, healthy workplace provider Thriving Workplaces and mental health charity Mind.
The informal events will be an opportunity for people to seek support and signposting regarding financial issues, physical and mental health problems, or simply for a reassuring chat and refreshments.
Catherine Van Battum, Health and Communities Team Leader at North Norfolk District Council, commented: “We named it ‘PositiviTea’ because we really want people to feel like this is a safe, positive space where they can pop by and discuss wellbeing issues that matter to them, or people they care about, over a hot drink and cake if they like. They might have concerns about the cost of living crisis, maybe they feel isolated and want to find out about local social groups, or discuss care needs for themselves or someone they know.
“We hope that visitors can come along and get a sense of connection, so it really is open to all, even those who might not have particular issues they need support with, but simply want to meet people or join in with some activities. There is no judgement here and sessions are suitable for all ages, we look forward to seeing as many people as possible there.”
