North Norfolk District Council’s Countryside Rangers will be closing the car parks from 4pm today (Thursday 19 October) at Holt Country Park and Pretty Corner Woods, ahead of strong expected weather.

The car parks will remain closed until the weather has passed and the Council’s Rangers have had time to assess any damage or risks in the woodland areas.

Met Office are forecasting strong winds as Storm Babet is given a yellow weather warning in North Norfolk.

The Council are advising residents to avoid any woodland areas while the stronger weather and weather warnings are in effect.

Storms in October 2020 caused extensive damage to Holt Country Park and Pretty Corner Woods which led to a prolonged closure while the Rangers cleared debris and ensured it was safe for the public.

Woodland areas are particularly dangerous in strong winds and storm-damaged trees can continue to pose a risk in the coming days and weeks.

The Council will confirm when the car parks are re-opening.
