Views sought on Your Choice Your Home Scheme

The Council is inviting feedback from people who are using, or have previously used, the Your Choice Your Home Scheme.
Your Choice Your Home is the housing allocation scheme through which social housing in the North Norfolk District Council area is allocated.
The Council uses a 'choice-based' lettings system, which allows people to choose which association accommodation they want; properties are advertised through Your Choice Your Home and people bid when properties become available.
The Council is currently reviewing how homes are allocated to ensure people have homes that meet their needs, prioritising those who need it most and making the application process easier. We are asking people who have used the service, whether they are in housing or still on the waiting list, their thoughts on how the system works and what can be done to improve it.
Cllr Wendy Fredericks, portfolio holder for Housing and People Services, said:
"Your feedback will help to ensure that the scheme adopted for the future meets the needs of those in North Norfolk seeking to access social housing, so please give us your views."
Affordable Housing in North Norfolk is a very limited resource and demand significantly outstrips supply. The Council currently have over 2400 applicants on the Council's Housing list waiting for a home. This means that even people with high housing need have to wait a long time for a home.
