Battle of the Beaches returns for 2024
Date published: 15th July 2024
This summer, Battle of the Beaches will return to North Norfolk District Council’s social media channels as we celebrate our fantastic and diverse coastline.
Since 2022, residents, visitors and businesses have joined in the coastal awareness campaign, which involves 16 North Norfolk beaches going head to head for votes, all hoping to be crowned the district’s favourite beach.
Last year Battle of the Beaches reached over 400,000 people, with over 5,500 people voting on social media, trying to elevate their favourite beach to the final of the competition.
West Runton reigned supreme in 2023, beating other semi-finalist, and neighbour, Sheringham in a very tense final that played out over 4 days.
Battle of the Beaches is a fun promotional opportunity for audiences to celebrate their favourite beach, discover new places and for the Council to promote key summer themes such as beach safety, coastal transition and tourism.
Leader of the Council, Cllr. Tim Adams said:
“We are very excited for Battle of the Beaches to return for a third year. It’s always fantastic to see North Norfolk’s residents, visitors and businesses all get involved in voting for their favourite beach.
It's a fun initiative that raises awareness for beach and coastal matters, the excellent work of the RNLI in keeping our beaches safe and all of our wonderful seaside communities that make North Norfolk a great place to live, visit or work in.
We look forward to seeing who wins this year – Mundesley and West Runton have won it previously, so maybe another competitor will be crowned for 2024.”
Follow the Council on Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram and LinkedIn to vote for your favourite beach and play along.

Casting your vote is very simple – for Facebook, all you need to do is like react one for one beach, or love react for another.
