Sheringham Little Theatre to benefit from energy and community grant funding
Date published: 17th May 2024
Sheringham Little Theatre is one of many community organisations in North Norfolk to benefit from a grant funded by the Rural England Prosperity Fund.
Through a successful application to the Sheringham Shoal Community Fund, the Theatre will be able to replace older heating systems for an Air Source Heat Pump.
This is further complemented by North Norfolk District Council’s Rural Community Grant which will enable them to transform their changing rooms into a multi-functional space, allowing them to be used by community groups for a wide range of activities.
The Council’s Economic Growth team have supported them through the application process for the two grants, with successful applications to the Sheringham Shoal Community Fund and the Community Grant Scheme from the Rural England Prosperity Fund.
Hear from Debbie Thompson, Theatre Director at Sheringham Little Theatre:
The Council has owned the building since its inception in 1974 and in recent years has supported the Little Theatre with a programme of refurbishment works, such as the new Hub area and new energy efficient windows.
Sheringham Little Theatre is a charity organisation, which regularly hosts a mix community events as well as theatre performances and screenings.

Cllr John Toye, portfolio holder for Sustainable Growth said:
“Community grant schemes like this make a huge difference to organisations across the district and I am very pleased that we can help facilitate it.
Assisting much-loved local places like the Little Theatre and helping them to accomplish things like better energy efficiency, or opening up more opportunities to support the community is essential to growing North Norfolk.
I thoroughly encourage any North Norfolk groups to apply for any grants that can help your business grow.”
The Sheringham Shoal Community Fund is administered by the Norfolk Community Foundation and the Rural England Prosperity Fund is delivered by North Norfolk District Council in partnership with Norfolk County Council.
