Coastwise to host more Coastwise Cafés

The Coastwise Team has hosted 11 Coastwise Cafés this year. These face-to-face community drop-in events have taken place in various coastal communities around the district, with over 315 attendees.

Feedback from the cafés has generated ideas around different ways to communicate, identify community concerns, and place-based actions towards preparing for coastal change, as well as a focus for future project activities.

From these café events, subgroups and committees in Trimingham and Happisburgh have formed to take forward local initiatives to adapt to coastal erosion.

Coastwise is hosting more Coastwise Café events in November to provide progress updates. Each café will focus on housing and have unique location-based topics.

Overstrand

Tuesday 19th November at Overstrand Parish Hall between 9:30am-12:30pm

The Overstrand Café will focus on key infrastructure and the setting up a local community group to take ideas forward.

Trimingham

Thursday 21st November at Trimingham Hall between 2:30pm-5:30pm

The café in Trimingham will include discussions around the water investigation study and an update on the Coast Road.

Happisburgh

Saturday 23rd November at Happisburgh Wenn Evans Centre between 9am-1pm

The Happisburgh Café will provide updates on work around the graveyard, the car park replacement, and possible uses for the Old Caravan Park land.

West Runton

Tuesday 26th November at West Runton Scout Hall between 9:30am-12:30pm

The café in West Runton will provide an introduction to Coastwise and discussions around caravan parks in the area. 

Everyone is welcome and refreshments and interactive activities for children will be provided.

Coastwise is a North Norfolk initiative to transition and prepare coastal communities where the coast is eroding.

This project is funded by Defra as part of the £200 million Flood and Coastal Innovation Programmes which is managed by the Environment Agency. The programmes will drive innovation in flood and coastal resilience and adaptation to a changing climate.
