Each year thousands of people visit Cromer Pier, one of Norfolk’s most iconic landmarks.

The Pier, which is a Grade II listed building and an important asset for Cromer and its tourism offering, comes with a significant annual maintenance cost.

The Council is committed to maintaining Cromer Pier, and ensuring that access to Cromer Pier remains free, unlike other piers that have introduced turnstiles to supplement costs.

As part of a six-month trial, the Council has installed two donation stations, which visitors to Cromer Pier will be able to discretionarily donate a small amount to the upkeep and maintenance of the Pier.

Cllr. Tim Adams, Leader of the Council said:

“Cromer Pier is a beloved asset and is a significant part of North Norfolk’s tourism offering, but it does come with a significant maintenance price tag – up to £400,000 a year.

The Council is committed to keeping access to Cromer Pier free to all, and this six-month trial is in place to create a sustainable future for the pier."

The money donated will be ringfenced for upkeep and maintenance of the Pier structure.
