This document identifies which sites should be developed in order to achieve the broad aims of the Core Strategy.

It includes allocations for new housing, employment, retail and other development, together with other uses of land such as parks and open space. The specific sites highlighted in the plan will require planning applications to be submitted before development commences. Many of the sites are already in progress and some major sites require the completion of Development Briefs to set out in broad terms how the site will be developed.

An independent inspector considered the plan and approved it for use on 1 December 2010. The Council formally adopted the document at the Full Council Committee on 23 February 2011.
